There's not a whole lot to write this week. This week was pretty
normal. We had an investigator named Ingred commit to baptism once
she learned all of the doctrine! That's great! We also had zone
conference this week. We were addressed by President and his wife. It
was really good. We also did did a double exchange this past week and
it was really interesting. The Falls Church elders came over and we
all slept in out apartment...we had a good amount of service this week
too. After this awesome stake breakfast we had on Saturday, we helped
a ward member move and we also did the normal Friday morning food
pantry. That's basically all that happened this week. Yesterday, we
had Pedro come to church!! We had dinner over at the Riley's house
and got stuck there for over 2 hours haha. We had a small miracle I
guess, last night we were walking and this girl just came up to us and
asked if we were LDS. Her name is Idalia and she is a less active
member! She wants to meet with us and we are doing that today. That
was cool. That's basically my week right there. Sorry for having it
so short. Do what you can to help those around you! There are small
and simple things we can do!

Dear Family,
Man I'm already to week 20!!! The time goes by quick! This week was
pretty normal. On Tuesday, we had exchanges again and I was with
Elder Walker. He's being trained by Elder Biehn. He has a really
strong testimony and he's not afraid to talk with everyone he sees!
He's a really hard worker, he's great.
We had a ton of service this week! We helped at the weekly food
pantry. We started that up again because Elder Escobar likes it.
It's every Friday morning a bunch of Elders from our zone go help at
the Baptist Church with putting away food donations onto shelves. And
Saturday, we went early up to Great Falls to help Sister Shipp weed
her flowerbeds. And after that haha, we helped Hermana Rios dispose
of a drawer dresser and a bunch of stuff at Goodwill. That was a long
day haha.
Well...there's not a whole lot to write about this week...which means
you write about the weather right? Haha guys let me tell you....it's
been SOOO HOT HERE!!!!! ☀️☀️🔥🔥😩😩💀 what's the weather like at
home??? Here it has been around 95 every day but the humidity makes
it feel like lower 100s......gaahhhh!!!! Just so ya know...there's a
heat wave here in Virginia right now haha.
Now let me tell you about some of the people we helped this week. We
had a good amount of lessons this week. It's amazing what talking to
people can do!! So first, we got a new investigator!!! His name is
Jonathan Escalera and his parents well...his whole family but him is a
member already! He's going into 9th or 10th grade this year and he's
amazingly smart. He had a ton f deep doctrine questions about the
Restoration that I didn't know haha...sometimes it's ok to say I don't
know haha We had another lesson with Pedro Meruvia! He was scheduled
for baptism when I first got here, but he didn't go through with it 😥
he's so cool, I wish you all could meet the amazing people that I have
met!
We were able to teach Esmeralda again. We brought Dany with us to
teach but we only made it halfway through the first lesson because he
likes to talk hahaha we are going to finish it with her this week. We
also taught la familia Estacuy and invited them to have a kneeling
family prayer. Still working on that haha. And we taught Fiorela
again. We brought Dany's dad Luis. I'm praying for so many people
you guys, it's hard to keep track!!!
Church was kinda normal but we struggled to get people to church this
week 😗😗 I was able to participate in giving someone the Holy Ghost.
I don't want to rush over this part of my letter....it's such an
AMAZING experience to be able to bestow upon one the gift of the Holy
Ghost. It's such a memorable experience each time because I feel that
ordinance taking place. What a privilege it is to have the gift and
gifts of The Spirit and to be able to pass it down to someone to
continue it.
Well that's basically all that happened this week. Today, Escobar and
I got things done fast! We did our shopping, washed the car and
dropped off my suit at the dry cleaner all before 11:30! Well...we're
gonna go enjoy our P day now...am I forgetting anything?? Probably am
haha. I always know what to write about during the week and then once
I write, I forget haha, asà es....well I'm gonna end it here. Thank
you all for supporting me in what I'm doing. Have a good week
everyone!

Shout out to Elder Dibble on his halfway mark! And to Elder Richins
for being my best friend since forever 😜 The trio of best friends
with our best friend watches haha
Dear All,
This week we had transfers, which ended my training officially. My
new companion is Elder Escobar! He is from Houston, Texas and he turns
21 in August. He used to be a street racer before the mission! I'm
looking forward to working with him. Our district is a bit different
now, very new. There was only 1 Spanish Elder who came out so....to
break up the trio, Elder Biehn is training him. His name is Elder
Walker and he is very determined! He's still keeping his CCM spirit
up haha. Amazingly, Hermana Harley was also called to train!!
Remember she came out the same time as me!! Haha her comp is Hermana
Fafita from LA but her family is from Tonga so she looks like she's
from there haha. That is our district now.
This week...was kinda dead. All of our lessons went through and we
spent a lot of time packing on Tuesday and Wednesday because Elder
Coburn has left 😰😰 But on Tuesday, we were able to go serve the
Morriberons again. We mowed their lawn. We love them. Elder Biehn
gave me another haircut on Tuesday!! I had this one shorter this time
haha.
Well this Thursday was transfer day. It was really hard for me
actually. It's pretty hard to say goodbye to someone you've spent 12
weeks with and gotten along with so well. 😥 I miss Elder Coburn a
lot. He was so great to me and he made me happy to go out and do The
Work. He gave me this sweet wireless keyboard for iPad minis for
free!! He's too good to me. I'll send pics of transfer day. And now,
my new comp is Elder Escobar. He was comps with Elder Coburn just
before he trained me. Well right after the sad farewell, we went to
Zinga for frozen yogurt and then to our normal new zone meeting which
is pretty pointless. It's always just an hour and a half of get to
know you stuff for everyone and then a few announcements.
Friday night was rough because Elder Escobar got sick and so we
weren't able to do anything.....but Saturday we had correlation
meeting but it was lame because we had to have it over the phone
because Dany was super super busy. The saddest part about Saturday
was having to help the Itos move 😥😥 ...Elder and Sister Ito are
going home tomorrow. I love them they are so fun and nice!! And the
sad thing is...is that no seniors will be living in that complex
across the street from me anymore 😟 We helped them move their stuff
with the help of the Craigs. They are their replacements I guess haha
they are from Kentucky, Sidter Craig is a nurse of course and Elder
Craig is a retired federal judge!!! Looking forward to knowing them
better. The Itos took me and my comp out to Z-Burger 😃😃 They're too
nice. I will miss them so so much!
Sunday was normal but we went to ward council because we hadn't gone
in a couple weeks. Church was pretty good. There were two talks in
English ....I don't know how the members feel about when they do that
haha I played the piano again in primary...I think I'm getting better
from it haha after church we had a fireside at Obispo's huge house.
It was pretty good. We did some finding after but then we got a call
from Rudy and he was struggling so we went to visit him. Haha oh yeah
Elder Walker's first day, Biehn brought him over to Rudy and Rudy
pretended to be a faithful southern baptist hahaha and he only let
Elder Walker talk it was so funny!!! I have a video but it's like 10
minutes long haha...
Hoy is today...Elder Escobar likes to get permission from the APs to
go shopping at Aldi. It's waaaaaay cheaper than Target haha. We
planned to meet Elder Coburn and Pickett at the Washington monument at
noon. Yes they're comps now. We parked our car at The Pentagon and
took the Metro into DC!! It's been 20 months since I had been on the
Metro...wow! Well we met up, took pictures and walked around DC. We
went into the Smithsonian for about 20 minutes and by that time it was
already time to go haha I have a lot of pictures this week. It was
soooo great to be with Coburn again!!! We planned in this trip because
we never went to DC together...oh well. Well that's basically our
week.
As much as it may make us uncomfortable, change is good for us.
That's what I've been experiencing this week. And also....sometimes
when change comes our way...change is required from us. But...I want
to share the best piece of advice I received from my wonderful
President Huntsman. He expounded 2 Nephi 2:16 ....he told me that
it's time to act. Most of my mission has been me being acted upon and
at the mercy of others actions and doings. Now it's my turn to step
up to the plate. That's what is required when there is change.
I hope everyone has a great week and stays safe! Until next week!
❤️ Elder Thompson
