Week Six--Ready For Change

Dear Family,

So....sorry for having this a day earlier, I threw everything off haha but...none of us are sure exactly what we're doing, because it says on the schedule that P day is tomorrow, but I guess it's today.  Sorry.  I'm super tired right now because we stayed up almost all night because there was almost no point in sleeping.  We wanted to have an awesome last night chat with E. Wilson.  Me and E. Wise hugged him goodbye at 2 this morning.  He's off to New York, New York!  I'm on a split with E. Wise right now, E. Brown is with E. Hinckley today for some reason we know not haha.  But E. Wise leaves at 12:30 today, so he has a few hours.  He will be in Ogden tonight.  I will be with E. Brown and E. Hinckley I guess until tonight and then out of all 3 districts it will just be me and H. Hathaway tomorrow because we have the same mission.  I'm glad that's the case.  I have to join a different district for a day, not a fan of that but, oh well.  Maybe it's one less crazy day in the field...and one more day of food freely given to me :D haha

Friday, we were all in meetings ALLL day.  We had our In-field orientation and that was literally all day long.  We learned lots though.  I learned that working with members is critical and we just had a lot of learning that day.  Saturday was our last day with our teachers and so we got more pictures, but you'll have to wait until I'm in the field for pictures of my last week here because I'm still frustrated I don't have a cord to the camera.  How much are they?  I'll be able to get one right?

Yesterday was the Sabbath.  I blessed the bread in Spanish for my sacrament meeting and E. Brown had to give a talk haha they don't say who's giving the talk until right then so, that makes everyone have to prepare a talk.  Also in sacrament meeting, E. Wood played the piano for us, and we sang our thing.  I was the loudest Elder.  We did the separate parts in Spanish and then together in English and it was super cool.  I also played the same song for the 4 hermanas in my district that wanted to sing it again just before the weekly Sunday devotional and we did!  I played without music and it was nice.  Last night was our night!  Our pictures were displayed of our districts since were leaving.  We were finally sung to; the weekly God be With You Till We Meet Again.  And after the weekly video, we got to have our testimony meeting in English for once.  It was the best testimony I've had because it was so great and all of my friends were feeling the same feelings.  I told everyone my story of dad, and it was the first time E. Brown had heard it, so I shocked my district a bit.  I made so many others cry and shared with them..  I said I'm going to tell you how much I know this gospel is true...then I said what had happened in my life....and I said 'I know the church is true because if it wasn't 100 percent true and correct, I would not be here.  I would have changed my mind on coming on a mission once my dad passed'.  So many people came up to me after, because my testimony was the only one really like that.  E. Brown caught me off guard though...I didn't think he would cry haha. But he had a touching testimony as well.  I love Elders Wilson and Wise.  E. Wise came up to me after and said to write him up when I'm having those depressed feelings because his girlfriend took her life a year ago, and so when we came home last night we were able to trade funeral programs and talk about it and the resurrection and connect, it was so great :) My story has touched lives. I know that.

I've written notes to everyone in my district and given them secretly kinda in private.  I wanted to do that.  Anyway...these are my last few days in Mexico.  Can't wait to be back in the Estados Unidos.  I will either be able to call or at least email when I arrive.  I have to be at reception at 2 in the morning Wednesday with H. Hathaway ugh...I can do it though.  Can't wait.  Hope everything's been fine at home, because I won't be able to know what happened until next week :\  And I can'wait to have an AMERICAN keyboard again!!!! Hahaha sounds weird but it's true.  Did you guys look up the answer to that riddle?  You better not have haha but I'll give it to you now anyway.

Answer: A casket

Right?  It blew my mind to think about it but it works.  I'm actually pretty sad right now because I love my district, they are my friends and were saying goodbye today and tomorrow.  If you're in Ogden sometime look for E. Wise :) (He says look for a really confused elder who can't speak Spanish hahaha)  He just said that.  Well...this is it...this is the end but it's only the beginning.  I love you all and can't wait to hear what happened este semana.  I'm so grateful I stayed here because I have learned so much...can't write it all, you can only know by going through the experience here. :)  Love you miss you gotta go bye.

Love,
Elder Thompson
