Week 27-28

Dear All,

So this will be shorty short I know for sure.  I just don't feel like
writing, especially when it comes down to the time to do it haha well
this week we only had 7 lessons which is less than normal.  I had an
exchange with Elder Castillo on Wednesday.  He's 21 and from Honduras,
his family still lives there! We had 2 lessons with members on that
exchange.  This week was stake conference so we were uplifted with the
talks of our stake presidency, temple president and my mission
president.  It was so awesome!  Elder Gosain tried to translate for
the first time haha.   I wanted to put something down I learned during
it but I cannot remember anything right now.  And that's my week.

Dear All,

Had another awesome week here in Springfield.  We had a bunch of
different things go on this week.  This Tuesday instead of district
meeting we had zone training.  It was pretty good, we raised a bunch
of goals that kind of made Elder Gosain overwhelmed but it's healthy.
We had to leave early from that to go to a lesson that ended up
canceling 😳 oops.  Not a whole lot happened on Tuesday.

Wednesday, we had a lesson with Charlie and helped him out more.  He
struggles to find time to read the BOM but we read with him when he
doesn't and it's so awesome to see how intrigued he is by the church
😃 Also Wednesday, we had a Noche de Hogar that was pretty...well the
message was awesome but we only had the investigators there at their
house and one member showed up 😥 it was kinda frustrating a bit
because we called SOO many people but none of them came even the
people who said they would be there 😳 oh well, we taught the law of
tithing and it turned out not too bad.

Friday morning me and my companion had a daunting experience.  Elder
Gosain went to take a nap for the rest of lunch hour and I did too.
He went to his bed but I slept on the couch.  I didn't really sleep
but whatever.  The thing is, we both got up at the same time and he
told me something weird and kinda creepy.  My companion told me he had
been trying to get out of bed for the past 10 minutes but, he was
stuck.  He was being held still by some force, he couldn't move.  He
said he felt a general pressure pushing him further into his bed,
keeping him from getting up.  The creepy thing was, I had an "attack"
during the same time.  The reason I got up off the couch is because I
had a massive anxiety attack, a LOT bigger and more intense than any
other one in my life I think.  My thoughts about home, family and the
amount of time remaining in the mission came to me all at once and as
I was just laying there on the couch my heart started pounding so hard
and fast.....it was weird.  We shared our experiences and then said a
prayer and asked The Lord to depart any unholy spirits or presences
around us.  I hope that doesn't happen again.

We also had Spanish forum!! That's when all the Spanish missionaries
in the mission meet together in a meeting.  It was good, we had
President Huntsman speak to us and his counselor President Burton.  We
were taught the basic principle "New, in the pew, with a friend with a
date, in the water." We went over the importance of working with
members because most of the Spanish baptisms this year have been
through member referrals.

We had another lesson with Charlie Saturday, and we put him on date!
He accepted to prepare for baptism on the 25th of this month! We're
really excited for him.  And, he came to church!

Yesterday (Sunday) was really good.  I learned new things in church
and it was awesome to see Charlie there.  After church, we had 2
dinners! We had one with this super nice lady I don't know her name
yet.  She fed all 4 of us Elders in my district.  I ate like 5 pupusas
and then after that we went to Hermana Rodriguez and she fed us a
huuuuge chile relleno.  I ate soooo much this week.  We had members
give us food 3 other times this past week!!! I ate so much.  Then at
8, we had a lesson with Marcos and his wife Iris who's a returning
less active.  We taught la palabra de sabiduría and haha Elder Gosain
felt prompted to ask em to remove any distractions in regards to the
commandment.  And, they have s wall in their dining room with tons and
tons of collected wine bottles that haven't been used, and they
seriously took them all and dumped them down the sink!!! Hahahaha
😱😱😃 It was so great to see, an amazing act of faith! It was a great
lesson.

Well I'm caught up to today.  We drove up to the mall in Tysons Corner
and looked around at things.  We didn't buy anything haha.  We've been
relaxing.  Elder Gosain has got me into Bob Marley hahaha we've been
listening to some of his songs a lot.  Well, I'm learning so much from
him.  He's teaching me how to be a leader and how to look at things a
whole lot differently.  He's a help.  Gotta go, I love you all! Have a
great week!

I was teaching the gospel to the Gladers hahaha it looks like a Maze
Runner scene / Spanish Forum!! / The simplicity of our message found
on the wall haha

Week 24-26

Week 26
Dear All,

This letter will probably be short, although I always say that and
then it's not so haha.  We had another awesome solid week.  Last week
we had lots of lessons and one of them was basically begging a less
active youth to come back to young men's it was good though. We got a
new investigator and we don't know her first name still so we still
just call her Hermana Chavez even though she's not a member haha.  We
set up our expectations and we will be teaching her The Restoration
next time this week.  We had another lesson with Julio, he's about 16
and he's so ready for baptism he just doesn't realize that!  We also
teach this kid named Charlie who's also about 16 and he's so
interested in finding the right church, I find it so interesting that
he has that interest at that age.  And then we taught Elkin.  He's
also like 15 or 16 and he is going to get baptized for sure!!! He does
everything we invite him to do and he just understands the gospel!
Elkin and Julio are on date for baptism.

We had interviews with President Huntsman this week and those were
alright.  Everything my mission president says to me is exactly what I
need to hear every time, it's so amazing.  Well yesterday we went to
church and we got Charlie to church! It was great.  After church, we
had dinner with Obispo Uriarte and his wife and I found out she use to
teach special education at Spanish Oaks Elementary and she knew my
mom!! Crazy! Anyway, we had a great time with them and we got a bunch
of names of people we need to visit.  That's basically what happened
this week.  Today we went shopping, got lunch at Cafe Rio and we are
playing basketball again at the chapel.  This week on the 9th I'll hit
my 6 month mark! Woo! I don't have any pictures this week other than
my little diagram thing again...and because I got this haircut and
this lady destroyed my hair so I don't like my look right now hahaha
anyway.  I love you all and have a good Labor Day and a good week!!

Week 24

Dear all,

This week has been crazy crazy.  Transfers were this Thursday, and I
had my first area change!! I moved on from McLean and am now in Little
River living in west Springfield.  I lost my stuff in my area book
because I switched so I have to remember what I did...I had my last
district meeting on Tuesday and we took pics and with our zone too!  I
miss serving with them.  I was able to go to the Pupusaria for the
last time!, 😍 Those pupusas are so good.  Well, transfer doctrine
came via email Tuesday night, and that's when I found out I was
leaving.  I spent the next day packing and stuff.  I said bye to some
members but I didn't get to say goodbye to all of them 🙄🙄 ...didn't
have time. I went to transfers the next day on Thursday and now I'm
here with Elder Gosain!!  He is so awesome.  He is from Mexico but
speaks fluent English along with Spanish so it's a huge help!!!  He
lived in and out from Mexico to Utah all his childhood and he even
went to the high school that was converted to what is now the CCM!!!
Super cool.  His family lives in West Jordan now.  He has 6 months
left in his mission.  Yeah, now I'm in a completely different area and
I don't know where anything is again haha 😳 The first few days have
been sooooo busy.  We're so much more busy with all these things to
do.  I've gone from having a couple lessons a week to 3-4 per day! Our
area is the most progressing area right now!  One of my first nights
here we had a 3 hour long bible bash lesson but it ended well and the
lady said she would read the BOM.  We left her house at 10:20 😩😩 but
oh well.  We have 4 investigators with a baptismal date! The change
was big but I'll get used to it.

So at transfers I finally got to say hi to my friend Ellyse Winward!
She is in my mission!!! We went to DC together Senior year on a tour
and we're both back!  Anyway, we actually were assigned to switch cars
with her and her companion and we did, but they forgot to take their
church key off of the keys and we forgot to switch the parking decal
sticker haha so we planned to meet at the Centerville stake center
Friday.  So that day, we go out of our apartment for the first time
and....our cars not there.  WE GOT TOWED!!!!  Ugh...and this was Elder
Gosain's first time being towed in the mission haha...and! We get a
ride to the towing company and my home debit card was declining!! None
of us had enough money so it was just awkward and we had to leave
haha.  We somehow got a ride from Elder Browne who's in charge of the
cars and he payed for it with his card so it will deduct out of our
grocery funds next month 😢 dang.

Well there's not a whole lot to write. I had my first sacrament
meeting and this ward is super awesome!  It's really involved, a lot
more than my last ward.  Well I have a ton of pictures this week
because it was transfer week.  I can't think of anything else right
now.  I love you all and hope you have another good week!  I have so
much to do.
